What is the Regional Business Partner (RBP) Network?
The RBP Network is a business support service jointly funded by NZTE and Callaghan Innovation. The Network employs Growth Advisors to help small and medium sized New Zealand businesses connect with the right resources and experts so they can build capability and grow. This includes access to the Management Capability Fund.
What is the Management Capability Development Voucher Fund?
The Management Capability Fund helps eligible businesses pay for services such as training workshops, courses and coaching that build the management capabilities of their owners, operators and key managers. Vouchers can be used to subsidise up to 50% of the registered service cost (excluding travel and disbursements), capped at $5000+ GST p.a.
What services are available via the Management Capability Development Voucher Fund?
Training and coaching services may include Marketing, Business Planning, Business Systems, Business Sustainability, Capital Raising, Export, Finance, Governance, Lean Manufacturing / Business Operations, and Managing Resources. Services are provided by New Zealand based providers and listed on the RBP Network’s online marketplace.
How do you access the Management Capability Development Voucher Fund?
Funding is only available through the RBP Network Growth Advisors. To access the co-funding, you must first meet with a RBP Growth Advisor to discuss your business. Vouchers may be provided to a business where the Growth Advisors have identified a need for management training as part of an action plan to support the business owner to grow and innovate their business. The value of the voucher issued will vary depending on the needs identified.
What businesses are eligible for the Management Capability Development Voucher Fund?
Any business can meet with a Growth Advisor. However, to access the co-funding, businesses must also meet the following criteria:
- Have undergone an assessment with a Growth Advisor;
- Have fewer than 50 full time equivalent employees;
- Are registered for GST in New Zealand;
- Are operating in a commercial environment; and
- Are a privately owned businesses, or are a Maori Trust or incorporation under the Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993 or similar organisation managing Maori assets under multiple ownership.

The programme consists of six consecutive modules:
- Business Analysis: Determine quick wins and priorities.

- Competitive Positioning: Establish competitive advantage.
- Brand Positioning: Create unique positioning and intangible asset value.
- Marketing Audit: Understand what to start, stop and keep doing.
- Marketing Plan: A tactical plan to drive you forward.
Our expert marketers will support you through the process, providing templates, reviews and feedback along the way. The outcome is a strategically sound and actionable marketing plan to drive your business toward its goals. Templates and techniques can be extrapolated for future use to ensure your marketing delivers a return on investment.
The total programme cost is $5,000 for the 6-module training, templates, reviews and feedback.

Go to the RBP Network website and scroll down to ‘Grow your business’ where you will be able to register your business. Once you’ve registered, a Growth Advisor will be in touch.
